rosemary cookies and frozen cookie dough.

I've been converted.

Herb with cookies taste so fine, so so fine. Made a log of rosemary cookie in the afternoon and freeze the rest of the dough.

Another good idea is to freeze a few logs of cookie dough (of different flavours of course), so when there's company or cravings. Just slice a couple and bake. Freshly baked cookies anytime!

The dough keeps for a few months if kept frozen, the idea of it is fantastic.

Lemon thyme is next on the list, and perhaps a few other. But never ever lavender, its equivalent to putting perfume into your food. Yuck.

Was comparing Christian Ferras and Maxim Vengerov playing the same piece and I actually liked Vengerov's better. I'm not sure if the recording for Christian Ferras was really just bad (taking into account it was recorded in 1965) or he was just sloppy. Was disappointed, had high expectations. Vengerov was much cleaner and spot on. Just listen to it with your eyes close. I tend to follow the facial expression he has on his face.. how the muscles ache.

Arabelle Steinbacher was really really lovely and sweet, I got front row seats and was not disappointed! More about this later.

Add sugar and butter, mix well. Set aside

Mix glutinous rice flour with ice cold water.

Wash all ingredient for the soup, about 2 1/2 cups of water. Boil and simmer.

Roll some of the rice flour, flatten and add some black sesame. Cover and roll to a ball. Be very very careful, the consistency of the rice flour is very difficult to work with. Not as easy as it looks. Next, boil the tang yuan, once they float they are ready. Place them in cold water once they are done (This stops the tang yuan from cooking further)

Place 4 to 6 tang yuans to a bowl, add the syrupy soup and serve!

Tang yuan, brings around reunion. Tuan yuan. Hope it does :)
Mom specifically requested for it this year, and instead of having the ones from the supermarket (My fault for being lazy to make them). Which always taste really bad, decided that its time for me to make my own tang yuan again and i iz glad i did. They seemed to like it, wasn't too sweet and the skin was soft and chewy. i love me tang yuans. Anything sweet and sticky, its my fave.

Dad prepared reunion dinner as usual, pork stew (kong bak), steamed fish, herbal chicken, fried big fat prawns, lotus root soup, abalone with mushrooms and spinach, nonya chap chye. The kong bak still stole the show, its always the best dish around. The prawns were really really really big, fat and juicy. The sauce was as usual fantastic. Slurp.

nice reunion we is hav!

Also opened a bottle of riesling, it was lovely.

Here's wishing all a good Ratty year :D good health and good fortune.

Get a cat if you are afraid of rats (Hint hint, to you know who)

Cover edges with aluminium foil to prevent it from burning. Heat oven to 180 degree celsius. Bake for about 30 mins. Cool and is ready to serve.

I like how the pie did not come out too sweet, in fact, you can taste the tartness of the apples.
Bit Poached!

After a week of incessant whining about my craving for poached eggs (Poor A and D had to tolerate my seemingly childish acts)

I got down to poaching my egg. The egg... hee~

Had no idea where to start or what to do and was so incredibly hungry, but insisted on poached eggs still.

Poaching Bit's Eggs

Getting Started

Got a pot of water boiling first, ensure it does not bubble. So while the water was getting heated, slice two small tomatoes, a handful of fresh basil and shredded a small ball of mozzarella. Tiny bit of salt. Mix well and set aside.

Went back to the pot, cracked an egg into a small bowl. When the water was hot enough, slipped the egg into the water.

Next.

***Didn't know what to do. Die!***

If stirred too hard, it'll turn into flower egg soup. So in a very gentle motion, I used a spoon to stir the top of the pot to set the water in a very gentle whirlwind. Ensured that the water didn't boil too hard and just left the egg in the pot. Didn't want to take any risk so I just stood there and WATCHED my egg! lol.

After about 3-4 mins, THINK they were ready. Using a broad spatula, carefully lifted the eggie to the top of my tomatoe salad. Sprinkled some extra virgin olive oil and its done.

Smells pretty good (I was really hungry) , the heat from the egg really helped to release the fragrance from the basil and amalgamates the whole salad together. Was seriously hungry, but a few photos had to be taken. So snapped a few, and went on to savour the salad. OMG, the egg yolk was still runny! It was a deep yellow. Thought that a few photo had to be taken but but but... too hungry. lol. Sorry guys.

People who have had or seen real poached eggs, don't be too hard on me. It's my first attempt.

*Sticks tongue out*

P.S. Uhm the surprise is coming. lol. Hopefully really soon. Have to forgive me, this few weeks have been quite crazy.

Till next time.

Love. Bit.
